MRS ELAINE HOWARD,
BA (HONS) FINST AM. FIQPS
I am principal of KUDOS TRAINING LIMITED, a well known private college, established in 1989. We offer a variety of courses full-time, part-time and distance learning. Subjects are available across the whole range of Business Studies, and may be studied as single modules and/or group diplomas from level three up to BA Hons in Business Management. For a comprehensive list of subjects and general information see our website:www.kudostraining.org.
As a former senior lecturer and course co-ordinator with a large college of higher and further education in London, I also acted as course tutor in charge of eight courses. Apart from my teaching, this involved counselling and guiding approximately 250 students both pastorally and educationally within the departments of Advanced Business Studies and Office Skills and Technology.
Before becoming a qualified lecturer and gaining my degree, I worked in publishing – general and specialist magazines, a group of national newspapers, and a national daily. I undertook many interesting and challenging positions both journalistic and secretarial. My last secretarial position involved working as personal assistant to the Managing Editor of a large group of newspapers.
My teaching and lecturing experience is extensive, ranging from running my own nursery school for five years, through to teaching at a girls’ secondary modern school in Clapham and working with graduates at a large private college in Central London. I am experienced and qualified to teach the following subjects at all levels: Economics, Psychology, Management, Communication Skills, English as an overseas language, Commerce, Shorthand, Typewriting/Keyboarding.
All course materials are designed here at Kudos, including tailor-made courses when required, and the importance of keeping up to date with the continuous changes in business and education for business keeps our courses challenging and interesting.
My involvement with the INSTITUTE OF QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL SECRETARIES reaches back to 1973 when I passed the Private & Executive Secretary’s Diploma, the qualification necessary to become a Member. I identify strongly with the philosophy of the IQPS which is dedicated to the professionalism of secretaries, and I firmly believe that secretaries are at last able to utilise their considerable skills in today’s working environment. I have chosen to teach courses which really contribute to this philosophy and help secretaries and PA’s to utilise their abilities and reach upwards and onwards. I am very proud of the professional qualifications I hold: Fellow of the Institute of Administrative Management and Fellow of the IQPS.
Turning to academic qualifications: I hold the Certificate of Education from the University of London, BA Honours Degree from the Open University and I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society. I have spent many years researching the methodology of teaching and learning and enjoy putting this work into practice.
The college remains flexible and dedicated to helping all students to achieve their chosen aims, and encourages them at all times to reach their full potential. I am particularly proud of the consistent success achieved by our students in all their endeavours over the years.
